31st National Taekwondo Championships sponsored by Taekwondo Federation of India


TAEKWONDO FEDERATION OF INDIA








The 31st NATIONAL TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP FOR SENIOR, JUNIOR, SUB-JUNIOR & PEE-WEE MALE & FEMALE, 19TH NATIONAL TAEKWONDO CHAMPIONSHIP FOR SENIOR MALE BLACK BELT & 11TH NATIONAL MUYE TAEKWONDO COMPETITION, BLACK BELT
EXAMINATION, NATIONAL REFEREE & NATIONAL INSTRUCTOR COURSE WILL BE HELD AT AHMEDNAGAR (MAHARASHTRA) on 26TH JUNE (SUNDAY) to 29TH JUNE (WEDNESDAY) 2011, as per the programmes details:-


1. Venue WADIA PARK STADIUM TILAK ROAD OPP S.T. STAND SWASTIK CHOWK AHMEDNAGAR, MAHARASHTRA.
2. Date 26th June to 29th June 2011.
3. Sponsore by Taekwondo Federation of India,
TFI. Taekwondo Academy of India, TAI.
4. Organize by Taekwondo Sports Association of Maharashtra.

The competitions includes both Male & Female Senior, Junior & Sub-Junior Boys and Girls and they will competing in 8 weight categories for Senior and 11 weight categories for Junior and Sub-Junior. About 24 States/Union Territories Taekwondo Associations had confirmed their participation. They are about 1000 (one thousand) participants from:- Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chandigarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Manipur, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Orissa, Punjab, Pondicherry, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Uttranchal and the host Uttar Pradesh.

Talking to the Press/Media, the Secretary General of the Taekwondo Federation of India Grandmaster Jimmy R. Jagtiani who incidentally is also the founder of Taekwondo in India and Taekwondo Federation of India expressed satisfaction at the rapidly increasing popularity of the sport in the Country. He recalled things have really started moving for the sport in India, with barely 50 members in 1976, it has now multiplied to more than 2,50,000 members all over the India. “Some day it will have a fans following like Cricket”.

The TFI released the calendar of its activities, making most of the opportunity. One of the most important programmes is staging the forthcoming 4th International Taekwondo Championship in India, 2011.
